Apes together, strong.

First the Planet of the Apes arose, then it dawned, and just when we were distracted by how little sense that made (surely the “dawn” would have to come first, right?), the Planet of the Apes blindsided us by starting its very own war.

War for the Planet of the Apes is the latest in 20th Century Fox’s impressively ambitious reboot of the classic Planet of the Apes franchise, which began with the earliest experiment to make apes super-intelligent and has gradually evolved into an apocalyptic battle zone in which – according to this latest trailer – Woody Harrelson is fighting an increasingly superior species for the survival of the human race.

Matt Reeves returns to direct this installment, his second in the series and most likely his last film before he begins directed The Batman for Warner Bros. Where that will leave the Planet of the Apes movies – concluded perhaps, or in search of a new filmmaker – only time will tell.

In the meantime, watch this exciting new trailer fro War of the Planet of the Apes and mark your calendars, because the battle begins on July 14, 2017!
