Her big break came on the Saturday morning live-action series “Bone Chillers.” She said, “I learned that on kids’ shows, you have to eat a lot of stuff. A lot of the humor comes from food and gross-out humor.”
Linda Cardellini had guest spots on “Step by Step,” “3rd Rock From the Sun” and “Boy Meets World.” As for appearing on sitcoms, she said, “I really loved the idea of a live audience.”
Regarding her role in “Strangeland,” she said, “I ended up being on the cover of the DVD. I was so excited because I had never been on the cover of a DVD before, and then my parents framed the giant poster and put it in their hallway. Every friend I ever had that came over thought it was the creepiest thing that my parents displayed a picture of my mouth sewn shut.”
But it was “Freaks and Geeks” that put Linda Cardellini on the Hollywood map. She said, “I love the fact that it didn’t die when it was canceled. Back at that point there weren’t even that many shows that went to DVD…it just creates this fan base that is so amazing and rewarding.”
As for “ER,” she said, “the medical jargon is rough, but the hardest part for me is assisting in procedures, even if they’re fake.” And for “Scooby Doo,” she agreed that lots of guys think Velma is sexy. “I think she’s a good girl who leaves things up to the imagination.”
In the past, she took martial arts classes and enjoys art.
Regarding her role on “Mad Men,” Linda Cardellini said she had just lost 55 pounds from her post-pregnancy body. Her role was so secret, too, that she wasn’t allowed to go to the premiere party and when she traveled to the set she went in a van with covered windows.
She has a child, Lilah-Rose Rodriguez from her relationship with Steve Rodriquez. The child was born in February 2012. Linda Cardellini had previously been romantically linked with Jason Segal.
