After a full year in which we simply could not escape Kanye West, it’s beginning to look like everything we’ve seen until now has been the warm-up. His 2010 opus My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy was the list-topping cap on a blizzard of GOOD Friday tracks and appearances just about everywhere, but 2011 looks to be even more active for the "I’ma let you finish" rapper: in addition to a hotly anticipated collaboration album with Jay-Z called Watch The Throne, Kanye’s looking to release yet another net album this Summer.
Kanye West Tweeted yesterday that he was "IN THE STUDIO NOW WITH THE BEARS GAME ON", which is roughly how 90% of Americans spent their time on Sunday (just replace "studio" with "cheeto-stained couch"). What the rest of America wasn’t doing, however, was working diligently on a follow-up to the biggest album of 2010.
The tweets say it all:
Additionally, the video for My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’s epic blaster "All of the Lights," featuring Rihanna, is set to drop next week. Kanye and Jay-Z’s forthcoming collaborative LP Watch the Throne is set for a March 1 release. One track, "H.A.M," from Watch The Throne has already made the rounds online.
Watch The Throne collaborator Jay-Z has previously talked about how "enjoyable" it is seeing Kanye kicking so much ass.
"Kanye, really he’s like a brother to me, I’ve seen him from the beginning to where he is now," Hova explained. "To see him as a producer and to see how he’s growing as a producer and as an artist, for me, on another level, it’s enjoyable. I’m watching the guy that I pretty much mentored become his own guy, with his own opinion. It’s fantastic."
