Along with the news that Soundwave Festival 2015 has lost two international acts in two days, is the more heartening news that the festival has grown by four new names, with all the winners of triple j Unearthed’s Soundwave competition now revealed.
With their competition, triple j have given four unsigned Aussie acts, one in each Soundwave state, the chance to join the lineup, alongside the likes of Smashing Pumpkins, Slipknot, Faith No More and Soundgarden.
Opening up proceedings in Adelaide will be local hardcore act A Ghost Orchestra, playing tracks from their latest EP Vile Hymns, released last year. The Melbourne leg of the festival will see a set from “digital chicken metal” peddling locals I, Valiance armed with their record The Reject Of Humanity.
Playing the Brisbane festival will be emotional punk rock three-piece Columbus with their latest release, the Home Remedy EP and Sydney will be represented by local punks Bare Bones, hot on the heels of their latest music video release, “Pipeline Fever”.
Soundwave 2015 will kick off in Adelaide and Melbourne on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd February before making its way to Sydney and Brisbane on Saturday 28th February and Sunday March 1st.
