The "Burn Notice" prequel TV movie was given the greenlight barely two months ago, but the project is already in production in Colombia. And now the supporting cast has also been revealed.
According to TVLine, Chandra West ("The Gates"), RonReaco Lee ("The Good Guys"), Kiele Sanchez ("Lost") and John Diehl ("Stargate") have been signed to appear within the film.
The "Burn Notice" prequel will focus on Bruce Campbell’s Sam Axe and take place in 2005, when Sam was deployed to investigate a rash of attacks by Colombian rebels at the behest of the local military platoon.
West will portray Sam’s girlfriend, Donna, while Lee will play Ben Delaney, a young doctor running a non-profit clinic in Columbia who comes under assault by terrorists. Sanchez appears as a currently unnamed character who works in the country as a humanitarian and who has a distinct distrust for Sam and his fellow soldiers. Diehl will be Sam’s superior officer, Rear Admiral Lawrence.
"Burn Notice" creator Matt Nix wrote the script for the prequel movie, which is being directed by Jeffery Donovan, the star of the USA series.
USA’s President of Original Programming, Jeff Wachtel has previously indicated that the project came about thanks to Campbell’s immense popularity with genre fans, particularly at the San Diego Comic Con.
"We saw Bruce Campbell as the Bruce Springsteen of Comic Con," said Wachtel. "We saw the spectacular explosive fan reaction and realized that, in Bruce, we had not only a great actor but also a pop culture icon."
The "Burn Notice" prequel movie will debut this spring, with the fifth season to follow in the early summer.
