Marvel Teases 'The Mystery Men'

Earlier today, Marvel put out a teaser for a new comic book with the question "Who Are The Mystery Men?"

No other information was revealed except for the release date of June 2011. And the teaser is rumored to have been drawn by Patrick Zircher.

The characters within the poster appear to be ’40s style superheroes, which is reminiscent of The Twelve, an infamous 12 issue miniseries from Marvel that was never finished due to the scheduling issues of writer, J. Michael Straczynski and the artist, Chris Weston.

If you’ve heard the name Mystery Men before, it may be that you remember the 1999 film of the same name starring Ben Stiller. That team of superheroes was created by Bob Burden (The Flaming Carrot), who is currently working on a revival of those characters.

Mystery Men was once also a generic term for costumed crime fighters, particularly within the DC Universe. DC has also published a series called Mystery Men Comics and is also rumored to a have Mystery Men title in the works for the company’s Flashpoint event.

Therefore, the real question seems to be "Who OWNS The Mystery Men?"
