We never stop playing video games. That’s a fact. Even after we call it quits for the week we still look forward to getting home and continuing our digital conquests. It’s our life blood. So we thought it would be fun to share with everyone what our gaming intentions are for the weekend so you guys can get a sense of what we’re playing and enjoying on a weekly, non-formal basis. Yes, this concept isn’t new to the internet. But hey, we kind of want to join in on the fun. Can you blame us for that? So without further ado, here’s what we’re playing this weekend that will forfeit any semblance of rest…
Joey Davidson: This weekend is going to be nerdy as hell for me. I’m splitting my time between LittleBigPlanet 2, Black Ops and Pokemon Diamond. That’s right, I’m dragging Pokemon back into play. What with the upcoming hype storm soon to be delivered by Nintendo, I figured it was high time I played through the more recent titles once more. Plus, any Pokemon I train up now will be usable in Black and White once that comes out.
Yes, like I said, super nerdy. I still plan on going out and snagging Darksiders at some point. My fellow editors here have sworn it’s a blend of God of War, Metroid and Zelda. Sounds pretty damn awesome.
Alex Keen: Word up, I have conquered Darksiders! Sure, it took me 25 hours over the span of a year. Nevertheless, I kicked the teeth in of any angel or demon in my way. Suck on that religious zealots!
After taking my throne at the center of the Universe, I picked up Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition. I haven’t played the game for over a year, but it’s coming back to me real quick. Considering it’s supposed to take days of my life to finish, I don’t expect that I’ll get too far this weekend. Perhaps I’ll lend my copy to Mike White to further suck him into the realm of consoles. Heh heh heh.
In arcade gaming I’ve been playing a decent amount of Plants vs. Zombies. I’ll probably tackle a couple more levels each night as my eyelids grow heavy. If I were a responsible adult I’d pick up a copy of some deep economic theory to better understand how my tax dollars are being used. Nah, I’ll just stick to killing zombies with purple plants with teeth!
Mike White: I’ll be pushing the keyboard aside for part of the weekend to get some use out of my Xbox. I’ll be playing Mass Effect 2, Red Dead Redemption and Arkham Asylum. Sunday evening my World of Warcraft guild has plans to put some attempts in on the Heroic Conclave of the Four Winds encounter. We’ll see how that goes. It depends mostly on how hungover and exhausted I am from being at the Beer, Bourbon and Barbecue festival in NYC all day Saturday. I may very well be in a coma.
Erik Norris: I’ve got one major game in my cross-hairs this weekend: Killzone 3. Yes, the game doesn’t come out till February 22, but review embargoes lift much earlier than that. Expect our full review of the game next week.
If I do find downtime from rockin’ the Helghan nation with gunfire and eye-gouging, I’ll be playing more Dead Space 2. Our review might be live now, but that doesn’t mean I’m done with the game. Far from it, actually. The game has a sweet “new game +” mode that lets me carry over all my upgraded weapons and armor and relive the nightmare over and over. And that’s precisely what I intend to do.
