It may have been a mid-season premiere, but that doesn’t mean their ratings slowed down – in fact, "Flashpoint" had so many viewers that it was the most-watched program on Canadian television with 1.6 million tuning in to the episode.
Seeing a 90% increase with A18-34, 45% with A18-49 and 20% with A25-54, the Canadian police drama has held on to its title as one of the most popular cop dramas on television; in fact, it was also the number-one overall show in Toronto.
Debuting in 2008, "Flashpoint" follows members of the Strategic Response Unit (SRU) and stars Hugh Dillon ("Durham County" and "ReGenesis"), Amy Jo Johnson ("Wildfire" and "What About Brian"), David Paetkau ("Supernatural" and "Smallville"), Enrico Colantoni ("Cra$h & Burn" and "ZOS: Zone of Separation"), and Sergio Di Zio ("Stoked" and "Republic of Doyle"). Created by Mark Ellis and Stephanie Morgenstern, the series has been sold to more than 50 networks across the world, including Tv2 in New Zealand, ITV3 in the United Kingdom as well as stations in France, Italy, Spain, Iceland, Sweden, Germany, Norway, the Netherlands, Australia, and Latin America. "Flashpoint" has won a Gemini Award (and been nominated for two), they’ve won and been nominated for Directors Guild of Canada Awards, and they’ve received nods from the American Society of Cinematographers along with the Motion Picture Sound Editors.
