John Carpenter's 'The Ward' Trailer Debuts

Although John Carpenter’s work hasn’t been seen in theaters since 2001’s "Ghosts of Mars," the iconic horror director will soon make his return to the big screen with "The Ward."

The first full trailer and poster for "The Ward" have been released. The film takes place in the ’60s, as a young woman named Kristen (Amber Heard) awakens to find herself injured, drugged and institutionalized in a psych ward against her will without any memories of her life before hand. Her fellow patients, Iris (Lyndsy Fonseca), Sarah (Danielle Panabaker), Emily (Laura-Leigh) and Zoey (Sydney Sweeney) are equally disturbed and without answers as to how they got there. And at night, Kristen encounters a "shadowy phantom" that stalks the halls, which may prove to be the death of both Kristen and the rest of the girls.

Jared Harris, Mamie Gummer and Mika Boorem also star in the movie, which will be out in the U.K. on January 21. There is currently no date set for "The Ward" for the American release, but it will probably be announced soon.
