New Battlefield 3 Trailer Details the Life of a Soldier

No time to write something witty here, we're too busy picking our jaws up off the floor.

Much like last Friday, EA and DICE have released new Battlefield 3 media. And much like was the case a mere week ago, we’re now wet in the pants. EA has released a new trailer for the title called “My Life.” Well Battlefield, your life looks incredible. Not in a lets-participate-in-wars-everyday sense, but instead in a wow-I-want-to-have-sex-with-your-graphics kind of way. Is that weird? Maybe, but can you blame us…

What’s funny is this trailer is released right on the heels of DICE’s Executive Producer Patrick Bach telling CVG that the company is “desperate” for a new console to fully show off the power of the Frostbite 2 engine powering Battlefield 3.

“We are desperate to move on into the next generation,” said Bach. “I think Battlefield 3 will look like a next-generation game and all the technology we’re building, the whole Frostbite 2 system – the animations, audio, everything – is trying to aim for a couple of years in the future, rather than looking at what we have today.”

Every trailer shown off thus far has featured gameplay ripped from the PC version of the title. But don’t worry, the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Battlefield 3 will still look spectacular, but they won’t reach the levels of detail pumped out by a monster PC. That’s just science. Thus explains why Bach said what he did; he wants console and PC gamers to get the exact same experience out of BF3. This also applies to all future DICE titles making use of Frostbite 2.

So what do you think? Is Battlefield 3 truly our first real glimpse at what next generation graphics on home console will look like? Your thoughts, give them to us!
