This summer, "Red Faction" will make the jump to television in "Red Faction: Origins" on Syfy.

"Red Faction: Origins" is a two hour movie that takes place twenty five years after the third game in the series, "Red Faction Guerrilla." Robert Patrick ("Terminator 2," "The X-Files") portrays the hero of that game, Alec Mason, who led the Martian resistance group known as Red Faction to victory over the Earth Defense Force. However, in the intervening years, his wife was killed and his daughter Lyra (Tamzin Merchant) was kidnapped, leaving him a shell of a man.

"Stargate Universe" star Brian J. Smith leads the cast as Alec's son, Jake Mason, a young officer in the Red Faction militia who discovers that his sister is still alive and is now a sworn enemy of the Martian Colonies.  Kate Vernon ("Battlestar Galactica") also appears in the film as The Matriarch, the leader of the tribal Marauders sect.. Gareth David-Lloyd ("Torchwood") and Devon Graye ("Dexter") co-star in the movie, along with Tamzin Merchant ("The Tudors") and Danielle Nicolet ("The Starter Wife").

With the film set to debut early next month, Syfy has released the first trailer for the movie, which you can see below.

The movie will also be released just days after "Red Faction Armageddon" hits the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3 from THQ.

"Red Faction: Origins" will air on Saturday, June 04, only on Syfy.
