While speaking with Eurogamer, Remedy’s Oskari Hakkinen said there’s more Alan Wake coming in the near future. However, it’s not Alan Wake 2. Nor is it DLC for the original game. Wait, what?
“Fans of the franchise will be excited to learn that yes, more Wake is coming! But to be absolutely certain to avoid confusion, this next Wake installment will not be Alan Wake 2. And neither will it be DLC,” said Hakkinen.
This news fills us with all sorts of questions. For starters, could this next Alan Wake adventure be a downloadable, standalone title? Some of what Hakkinen says points in that direction.
"It's something that'll definitely give more to the Wake fans out there, but just as importantly, this installment will also give an opportunity for players who aren't familiar with the franchise to finally jump on board," added Hakkinen.
Unfortunately, that’s the only info we have to go off of right now. An Alan Wake Kinect title has been rumored for a while. Maybe this is what Hakkinen is teasing. Or, our own Joey Davidson has theorized since the original Alan Wake came out that the sequel would focus on Wake's wife. A downloadable title starring her does seem plausible and lends itself to the "fresh start" approach. Either way, Hakkinen promises an announcement is forthcoming that will reveal platforms, pricing and a release date. With that said, Hakkinen hints that a release in fall 2011 is “probably a good guess.”
