In yet another bizarre bit of movie news, a science-fiction adaptation of Robin Hood is on the way, although it has been for some time. Frankly, it seems like the kind of ridiculous concept you might find in an Asylum release for the SyFy Channel, but nope, this is a major film in development for Warner Bros. And it is not, sadly, an adaptation of the 1960's cartoon series Rocket Robin Hood.
Screenwriter Michael Ross, whose only screenwriting credit to date is the 2008 horror flick Turistas starring Olivia Wilde, has been brought on board to rewrite the script for a futuristic Robin Hood, which Deadline says takes place in a dystopian London but otherwise sounds like just about every other Robin Hood movie. Ross also completed a draft of the videogame adaptation Just Cause, which we imagine had a bigger hand in getting him the Robin Hood gig than Turistas did.
Frankly, we have a hard time believing that a Robin Hood movie is the best idea right now, what with half of America thinking that "robbing from the rich and giving to the poor" qualifies as treason. We'll see.
CRAVE Online will be back with more Robin Hood news, because we can speak with an English accent.
