A ‘Man of Steel’ Sequel ALREADY?!

Warner Bros. is allegedly already looking at screenwriters for Man of Steel 2. It even doesn't come out until Summer 2013.

In yet another case of Hollywood jumping the gun a bit, Warner Bros. is reportedly already looking for screenwriters for a Man of Steel sequel. It's perfectly understandable, since obviously they want sequels, but the jury's still out on how excited everyone is for Zack Snyder's Superman movie in the first place. Hmmm…

The rumor – still just a rumor – started at Think McFly Think (great web site name, that), and indicates that Warner Bros. has an interesting and encouraging short list so far, consisting of Steve Kloves (Harry Potter), Travis Beachem (The Pacific Rim) and Lawrence Kasdan (Raiders of the Lost Ark). Not a bad egg in the bunch. We'd be excited to see whatever they might come up with. Curiously, none of Man of Steel's current writers seem to be included in this short list. Problems ahead, or are they just too busy right now?

In an open letter to those screenwriters… Guys? Whoever ends up with the gig, we want a villain we haven't seen before in the movies. Zod's great and all, but he's old hat right now, and he's never been terribly important to the comic books the movies are supposedly based on. Give us Darkseid, Mongul, Metallo, Brainiac… or hell, give us the real Lex Luthor. Not the crooked real estate tycoon, the megalomaniac billionaire super-scientist who actually represents a counterpoint to Superman's everyman nature. For more suggestions, we offer up the following: Ten Superman Villains Who Would Have Been Better Than General Zod.

Just sayin'.

CraveOnline will be back with more Man of Steel news if we can ever get Lois Lane to notice us…
