As a special treat to the Power 10 this week, we are going to list what each team featured here should be thankful for. Here's hoping they, and you, have a wonderful and safe holiday that brings you happiness, joy and of course, tons of football.
1. Green Bay Packers (10-0)
Green Bay is thankful that it hasn't had to deal with really bad weather. With a limited running game that is largely overshadowed by how awesome Aaron Rodgers has been playing, anything that slows down a passing attack would be deadly to the Packers.
2. San Francisco 49ers (9-1)
San Francisco is thankful that outside of Baltimore and Pittsburgh, the rest of their schedule should be a cake walk. A first round bye and a home playoff game should see the surprising 49ers in the NFC Championship game.
3. Pittsburgh Steelers (7-3)
The Pittsburgh Steelers are thankful that their bye week was so late this year. With their aging defense and their lingering injuries, a week off was just what the doctor ordered for a possible playoff push.
4. Baltimore Ravens (7-3)
The Baltimore Ravens are thankful that they beat the Steelers twice this season because as it looks now, they are going to need that tiebreaker if they hope to win the division and host a playoff game. With the uncertainty of Ry Lewis's status for the remainder of the season, he is the Peyton Manning of their defense, they are going to need every edge they can get.
5. New England Patriots (7-3)
The New England Patriots are thankful they play in a division that is lacking a consistent threat. The Bills are fading because of injuries and youth and the Jets are fading due to lack of anything close to good quarterback play. Even with New England's deficiencies, winning the AFC East is a no-brainer.
6. New Orleans Saints (7-3)
The New Orleans Saints are thankful that the Atlanta Falcons decided to go for it on 4th and 1 in their overtime game two weeks ago. With that one stop, the Saints have built a small amount of breathing room over their top division rival.
7. Chicago Bears (7-3)
The Chicago Bears are thankful that their offense has evolved to go around running back Matt Forte and is not dependent on the pass. If they can nab QB Kyle Orton off of waivers, then they have a real shot of making the playoffs.
8. Houston Texans (7-3)
The Houston Texans share the same thanks as the Bears. Due to necessity, they had to change their offense to be more run than gun and it has worked out very well for the Texans. With the possibility of two 1,000 yard rushers, Houston only needs Matt Leinart to manage the game, not win it.
9. Detroit Lions (7-3)
The Detroit Lions are thankful for having a meaningful Thanksgiving game. Sitting at 7-3, they are very much still in the playoff race and if they can get a win over the Packers on Thursday, then they may have a very outside shot at the division as well.
10. Dallas Cowboys (6-4)
The Dallas Cowboys are thankful to be in a division full of bipolar teams that can't decide if they want to win on a weekly basis. By virtue of having the easiest remaining schedule, the Cowboys should leap frog the Giants to take the NFC East.
