BioWare’s ambitious Star Wars MMO, The Old Republic, will be getting its first full expansion in spring 2013. While details are scarce, a press release sent out today details some of the new content players can expect.

The expansion is being called “Rise of the Hutt Cartel,” and as expected, features the Hutt gang striking back against both factions of the Old Republic. Players will visit a new planet called Makeb, where they’ll battle the Hutt Cartel and meet new allies and enemies, as well as “uncover the cutting-edge technology on this vibrant planet.” The level-cap will also rise to 55 as players experience five new levels of story-driven missions.

You can pre-order the content now, too. Old Republic subscribers can pre-order the content for $9.99, while non-subs (i.e. free-to-play moochers) can purchase the expansion for $19.99. And all players who pre-order by January 7, 2013 will receive five days of early access.

More details about "Rise of the Hutt Cartel" are sure to follow in the coming months. Stay tuned.
