In just under 24 hours, the Doctor (Matt Smith) will be back for the annual “Doctor Who” Christmas special.

As we get ready to catch up with the Doctor after the events of “The Angels Take Manhattan,” BBC has released a few preview scenes from tomorrow’s special, “The Snowmen.” And in the flashback scene below, we get a glimpse of the origin of Doctor Simeon (Richard E Grant) back when he was just a child.

In the second preview scene, Madame Vastra (Neve McIntosh) and her partner Jenny (Catrin Stewart) confront Simeon about the strange winter overtaking London.

And finally, “Doctor Who” showrunner and executive producer, Steven Moffat wrote a short Christmas prequel, “Vastra Investigates;” in which Vastra explains her romantic relationship with Jenny and even the real nature of their new companion, Mr. Strax (Dan Starkey) to an astonished ally. But there are some things even Madame Vastra can’t explain…

Also coming up tomorrow is a brand new TARDIS interior; which you can see in the picture at the top of this article. The Doctor will also meet Clara (Jenna-Louise Coleman), the young woman who will be his new companion. Or has he already met her as Oswin?

“Doctor Who: The Snowmen” airs tomorrow night, Tuesday December 25 on BBC One and BBC America!
