Last fall, Drea de Matteo finished her run on FX’s Sons of Anarchy, but she’ll be back on TV within the next few weeks.

Marvel has announced that de Matteo will guest star on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as Karla Faye Gideon, “a gifted woman with a grudge to bear against S.H.I.E.L.D. who joins forces with Skye’s father, Cal.”

Comic Book Resources notes that de Matteo’s character shares the same name as a character in the Daredevil: Redemption miniseries by David Hine and Michael Gaydos. In that storyline, Karla Faye Gideon was a woman who stood by her husband despite the death of their child and the abuse she suffered at her husband’s hands.

However, the CBR report speculates that de Matteo will probably be portraying an Inhuman, given her association with with Skye’s father, Dr. Calvin Zabo (Kyle MacLachlan).
